Biography: I was born and raised in Broome County, New York. I received my undergraduate education in my hometown, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harpur College of the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1975. After receiving my law degree from the University of Michigan in 1978, I was admitted to New York State Bar and to the Northern District of New York and returned to my hometown to start my law practice. Through strong mentoring relationships early in my career I was encouraged to develop a broad-based general practice. My present affiliation with Pope, Schrader & Pope, LLP affords me the opportunity to maintain my general practice of law in a small firm setting. My partnership provides me with the professional freedom and support to provide my clients with the highest levels of service and attention I can achieve.
The focus of my practice has always been to serve individuals, families and small business owners in a variety of areas, including matrimonial and family law, criminal defense, small business formation and counseling, civil litigation, civil and criminal appeals, and practice before a variety of state and local government agencies. The goal of my practice has been to bring the same level of attention to every matter undertaken, regardless of the client’s resources or the complexity of the issues presented, to listen carefully to my clients’ concerns and provide guidance through the difficult process of managing the resolution of important disputes, and to provide competent counsel in a variety of areas, or if necessary, to make appropriate referrals to colleagues practicing in specialized areas. My clients include people I have represented for more than 30 years, their family members, friends and business associates.
